It's as Momocampo tells.
Our clients (laptops) do have the microsoft antivirus onboard. perhaps that's why.
It's a synology FTP server
For now, I'm thinking about a workaround, but that will never be as smooth as the ftp option in FFAStrans.

I've tried checking and unchecking the passive mode.
monitor status is empty,
def_runner.exe is present in the folder (even changed folder locations)

tried a different ftp server, even tried a different pc.

what version are you running @momocampo?

If I place a new file on this watch folder FFAStrans noticed the new file, after several minutes I see in the FFAStrans monitor some activity, but this stops. FFA...
