All is not OK it seems...

The transcoding did "work" as in I can play the produced video back through VLC. However I cannot import it into Media Composer.

(Due to the forum's rules, I could not post all the images here: "Your message contains too many URLs. The maximum number of URLs allowed is 2". So here is just one link describing the current situation)

Any thoughts?

you need to choose an other audio-layout in ffastrans.
take 1x4 for example

Tried 1x2 and 1x4 for audio and both behaved the same way. None could be imported or AMA linked.

Anything else I can do?

Do you have avid codec package installed?

Installed where? In the same box as the FFAStrans, or in the machine where I run Media Composer?

In the FFAStrans machine, no, nothing extra installed, did not read that anywhere as a requirement.

In the Media Composer machine, I assume so, since I have been working with it for some time now and the first thing I do is to transcode/consolidate to DNxHD all my source material. If that is ambiguous, how can I know if the Avid Codec Package is installed? And why is Avid suggesting that the Avid Codec Package PE comes with its editors? Does come mean simply packaged and not installed?

Normally avid codec package Le is installed automatically during media-composer installation.
It may happen that it is not installed properly in some instances.
Pe package contains just one more codec (imx) but apart from that it is the same as Le package.
You can find Pe package in the installer-folder of mediacomposer for example.
But in your case you dont need Pe package for that files you want to have in media composer.
Well, if you are already working successfully with dnxhd and media Composer then it seems that the codec package is installed correctly.

Maybe you can transcode a sample file with ffastrans for me which you cant import/transcode with avid afterwards? Just some seconds. I could check it here at my company.
