IMX D-10 conversion not using full CPU

Post by bartcuijpers »

Hi,

When running a single file transcode to IMX D-10 using FFAStrans the CPU-usage is limited to about 65-70% What's causing this limitation?
An H264 conversion seems to use full CPU.

Thanks!

Hi bartcuijpers,

I'm not a codec designer so I can't give you a good answer but I think maybe the mpeg2 codec is not very well optimized for parallelization. Anyway, FFAStrans use ffmpeg for all encoding so this is as good as it gets (for the time being). On the bright side, you can do two encodings at the same time and use 100% CPU with little speed loss ;-)
