Hello Steinar,
first of all, I LOVE YOUR WORK!!!
I´m looking to use the Volume Label of connected XDCAM drives as the Tape name in AVID project structure.
I tried to use the variables %s_original_drive% and also %s_original_path~n%, but with this options I didn´t have success .
For example I would label the XDCAM discs with "Disk1" / "Disk2" / "Disk3" and after processing I would like to find the clips via MediaTool sorted by tape name.
I hope there is a solution I didn´t see for my request.
Thank you
Hans
XDCAM Encoder -> AVID Project Structure -> Tape Name = Volume Name
Re: XDCAM Encoder -> AVID Project Structure -> Tape Name = Volume Name
Hi Hans, thank you for those kind words and for using FFAStrans, and welcome to the forum!
I'm unable to reproduce the issue. Both variables seem to work fine. What data do you get in the "Tape"-field in Avid?

Re: XDCAM Encoder -> AVID Project Structure -> Tape Name = Volume Name
Hi Steinar,
sorry for the delay of my response.
I would give you some examples: The drive I would use is E: the path of the MXF files is e:\Clip and the volume label of E is CAM1-082318-CARD1
The clips are named as standard in C0001, C0002, C000x
I would like to have the metadata in AVID for:
Tape name: CAM1-082318-CARD1
Clip name: CAM1-082318-CARD1-C0001
I set the watch folder to: e:\Clip
With variable %s_original_path% I get the Tape metadata = "E:\Clip" in AVID
With variable %s_Original_path˜1% I get the Tape metadata = "Clip" in AVID
With variable %s_Original_path˜2% I get the Tape metadata = "Clip" in AVID
With variable %s_original_drive% I get the Tape metadata = "E:\" in AVID
I can readout the volume label in cmd with "vol e:"
Is it possible to use a variable to use the volume label as Tape name and as a prefix for the Clip name?
Thank you for your help

Re: XDCAM Encoder -> AVID Project Structure -> Tape Name = Volume Name
Ah, I see, you want the drive/volume label Well, FFAStrans does not support getting label names from drives/volumes but I will take a look at it.

Hi Steinar,
yes, that will make it so easy even when you need to handle tons of material.
Only label the data carrier and have everything sorted by metadata in Media Composer and find the clips in Media Tool easily.
Thanks
