MXF to ProRes Proxy

Post by pntaylor »

Hi all,

I was hoping someone may be able to assist in helping me build a workflow to convert .mxf files we get from shoots to ProRes Proxy files for editing. I've already got a workflow to convert other files to ProRes Proxy so I have the settings I need for my Custom FFMpeg there but I'm having trouble getting something setup so FFAStrans picks up .mxf files from the watch folder and I presume I need to convert it to something else before I can then run the ProRes Proxy part.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi PNTaylor,

can you attach a workflow you have tried with already? Did you try the AV Media-node with following ChannelMapper-node preceding the encoding-node so far?

So far it seems to get so far, about 79.8% then sits waiting on next processor resources

79,8%, i guess that means it finishes transcoding and does not execute the deliver node.
Are the Jobs sitting forever on "waiting on next processor resources?
Does it feel like sometimes it works, other times not?
Are you driving a standalone machine or a farm?

The only Thing that currently Comes to my mind is that you can Play witht he CPU Roof and max active Settings, try 100% and at least 2 for max active... in options->configuration->host

Hi emcodem,

seems that pn is working local as the Watchfolder and delivery folder are both on E:\.

Maybe there is an transcoding-issue that it cannot complete ProRes-coding?

only my two cents...

Hello,
Beware with Pro res encoding, I think I remember that Steinar warned us that this is a non definitive version. maybe I'm wrong but it's maybe your problem.
Cheers.

@Benjamin, this warning is for the ProRes encoder, not when you use prores in a custom node like pntaylor is doing.
@pntaylor, we need to know it this allways happen or just occationally.

Hello,
Yes Steinar I know it is for the ProRes encoder but I admit I not well read because I don't see Pntaylor use custom node...Thanks for the precision ;)
Cheers.
