Import into avid Media Composer

Post by vidyasagar »

application is awesome .

1) If we select "create Avid project structure " , where it will go. I have selected variable but not able to find .
will it create a bins where i can easily access in Media composer.

2) We are using Media composer and importing media into bin and then trasncode/consolidate the video files based on project .
Is there anyway to import directly with ffastrans. Where i can access bin with media ?

3) will it support to check in to interplay ?

Hello Vidyasagar and welcome to the forum.

1/ You have to add a delivery node behind your encoder. Then, set the delivery folder to your Avid MediaFiles folder (e:g: y:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1(or host name). Delete your .mdb and .pmr and start your media composer.
The variables %s_wf_name% and %s_original_path~1% can be used if you have populated them BEFORE the encoder. The %s_original_name% is the name of your pickup file.
2/ You can import files with the same procedure than 1. Convert your media and create op-atom files and deliver them into avid Mediafiles folder.
3/ Sorry FFAStrans doesn't support Interplay.

If you want more help, please tell us what you exactly want to do but I use use FAFStrans with Media Composer and it works very well :)

Cheers.

Thanks .

Usually , we have content from different camera's. for example, if i have five p2 chips. We do create chip wise bins and import the content into bin.
here, can we automate this process. Where , i will create a p2 content into watch folders, and after transcode it will be available in media composer with bins (chip wise)

Hey Vidyasagar,

Yes seems possible :
-Monitor Panasonic P2(Set the root folder of your P2 structure)>Encoder (maybe XDCAM or DNxHD with Avid Structure)>Delivery folder(Avid MediaFiles' folder).
You can add a command executor(with del command) behind delivery to delete avid .mdb and .pmr. The Media database will be recreate automatically if Media Composer is running or when it will start.
Once database recreated, drag'n drop the new .mdb in a bin and you will have your files :)

Cheers.
