I want my Shutdown FFAStrans Farm back
But maybe this feature has moved outside of the menue bar to another location...?
Shutdown FFAStrans Farm
Re: Shutdown FFAStrans Farm
Hi taner,
This was removed mainly for 2 reasons:
1. The new service implementation made it much more difficult do deal with in a good manner. And even if we was to re-implement it....(see 2.)
2. The feature potentially gave non-admin users the ability to shut down farm(s)...which is not very good in a production/enterprise environment.
Are you running FFAStans as service or (GUI) application?

Re: Shutdown FFAStrans Farm
Ok! Thanks for explanation.
I'm using FFAStrans at the moment as (GUI) Appllication but will move forward to service.
I assume I would have then ability to perform this task?

Re: Shutdown FFAStrans Farm
Hi Taner,
I realize I did not answer you on this, so sorry for the delay! When running as service, you have a "cleaner" way of stopping services through scripting, but I'm really not sure this should be an inbuilt functionality in FFAStrans. I'm a bit concerned about the safety of it. Also, it's quite uncommon for systems to enable easy shutdown of a complete set of services and applications throughout different hosts. Again, a safety concern. But I can definitely see the benefit of it, and that's why I implemented it a few years ago. However, I'm not so sure anymore. So I think I should also consult with my team on this topic.

Re: Shutdown FFAStrans Farm
No problem at all.
The feature made it more comfortable in the past but was never vital.

Re: Shutdown FFAStrans Farm
In my opinion, the webinterface should provide advanced farm resource overview and node management.
emcodem, wrapping since 2009 you got the rhyme?
