Hi !

Nice to see that it works for you. I'am sure that Workspace metadata is not included in the MXF file so no chance that any BMX option will help. In an avid environment without interplay, the workspace information is included in the mdb file (database) and I suppose that with interplay this information is contained by the interplay database.
Not sure that is really your issue
Sorry I couldn't help you more, I don't have interplay to do some test.

Comparing with other well-checked clips we see that the field "Workspace" (volume where the atom files are) and the Codec field are missing. These fields do appear when the same file . aaf is checked from NewsCutter.
Do i interpret correctly that using createaaf.exe along with Avid APIS, we have 3 problems:
1) no associated media files
2) "codec field" missing
3) "Worksapce" missing

For 2 and 3 all i would need is a very small example .aaf that i can analyze from NewsCutter, you would need to point out what i need to look out for, e.g. what is displayed in the codec field and workspace.
For 1, how can you work with the stuff when there are no associated media files - do you need to re-link the media?

Hello everyone, first forgive my tardiness in answering, I have had a few days off and I have already joined my job.

I have uploaded two sample files:

- test_01.aaf. This file is created with the CreateAAF application. It can be imported into NewsCutter without problems, the media is accessible and checked in Interplay correctly. However, when checked through the APIS of Inteplay the media is not accessible (MEDIAOFFLINE). I think in the previous post I was wrong, forgive!!. Workspace and Codec fields are empty.

- test_01_NC.aaf. This file is created from the NewsCutter application, with the same media files (atom) as the previous one. It is checked correctly using the APIS and the average is fully accessible. Workspace and Codec fields appear correctly.

I hope this is helpful. Thank you very much for your interest. Greetings.

hey @falitronic, welcome back :D
The files you created are just perfect, but allow me one question:
When Workspace and Codec appears correctly, what exact values do you read for them? I need to know what i have to search for.

Hello, I forgot to include it, forgive !!

- Workspace is the network drive where the atom files are, just the name of the drive, without any path. In this case you should put "ingesta" or "INGESTA".
- Codec must put DV 25 111

I have also uploaded a screenshot of what the Interplay application (Interplay Access) shows for the two files.

Greetings

Aye @falitronic,

i had a look and actually it occurs to me that your issues are because my whole thing just dont support the DV format you are using (even if it is or better was pretty common). There are no links to files at all in the aaf file from createaaf. If this is the case, then i will have to take a look into the used module (pyaaf2 from github) and check how hard it is to add support for another video format.
But before going down that road, would it be possible for you to experiment with another format like xdcamhd, dnxhd or such and test if it works this way as expected? ...just to confirm that i on the right track.

Thanks!

Hello, we work with DV format (25,50,100). I have converted a file to DNxHD format using FFAStrans. The result has been the same as with previous files, still not recognizing media files. I will try to find other files to do more tests.
Thank you very much.

falitronic,

have you notified the the workspace with "MI" in avid environment?
Media indexer will keep on watching the media info and update to IE

we are also seeking open source transcoder for Avid interplay environment..

I would also be interested in being able to check assets into Interplay using FFAStrans (at least I think that's what is being discussed  ). I attempted to get the createaaf utility from here but google drive says it contains a virus and won't let me download it. Is that the correct location?

Hello, I am glad to see that there are more people interested in this topic, it would really be of great help to be able to automate the entire ingest and check process in Interplay.

Vijaychoula, thanks for your interest, the volumes where we put the files are the ones we use regularly and are perfectly registered in the MI. I think the problem is that when the Workspace field is missing, the database does not adequately record where the media files are, although the MI do see it. This can cause problems, for example that these files cannot be deleted, since Interplay Access only shows the MasterClip. Being a commercial application (Avid) I don't know if we can really do it.
From our experience in Avid, we suppose that by resynchronizing the database they would appear correctly, but this is a process that takes many hours and is not done regularly, only in maintenance tasks, the normal thing is that the clips appear correct form once ingested.

Crispyjones, in terms of viruses, we use the Kasperky antivirus and it does not give us problems.

Greetings to all.
