Hello,
It would be nice if the Workflow Manager were available in a web browser rather than a desktop application. Is there anything like this planned for the future?

Heyho,
as webinterface evolves, more and more features to manage different matters around workflows are available via Browser. Aside from the job monitor app, we already have smart watchfolder management (which also alters the actual workflows by inserting/deleting monitor folders) and also the FFASTrans config can be done in the browser.
However, all things that are currently in webint are "optional" or better "an addition". A web based workflow building canvas (especially all processors) is such a huge thing that it will require to "dump/discontinue" the existing local application and move to the web only (otherwise lots of work needs to be done on both ends and there WILL be a huge amount of mismatch). This again requires steinar to get more comfortable with Typescript/Nodejs/python/Javascrip. Steinar wants to be in control of every aspect of FFAStrans, he cannot "outsource" such an important part completely to someone else without being able to understand and modify it in every detail.
So after all, you see the topic is not new and maybe there will be something in the future but most likely this future is very faaaar away...

Let me clarify a bit: It's all about time and very little to do with coding language. This project is unpaid work in spare time and donations are sparse. Next comes health. As this would be very time consuming, I'm not sure my back would be happy with me spending A LOT more time in front of my computer. I'm already pushing the limits.
About outsourcing...It's funny cause I actually played with the idea a few days ago; To "outsorce" designing the "future" web based manager. So I'm open to the idea of someone very eager to do that could embark on the mission. It would anyway just be the GUI part, not the back end, which in this regard would just be about consuming the API. Also, there would be no need to dump the local application.
