I would like to use the watch folder features to detect when a webm file is downloaded, and convert it to gif. I'm a bit lost with the UI though. Thanks for reading and help mucho grande appreciated.

What have you tried so far?
Normally it's a matter of adding a "Folder"-monitor, a "Stills"-encoder and a "Folder"-delivery.

I've done that, but I'm sad to say I'm not sure how to monitor a folder or do anything beyond adding those boxes to the workflow. http://imgur.com/JSDrhpa

You click on the names of the boxes to configure them. It's in the help text (F1). Have you done that?

Ah, the name not the box. None of the encoders seem to list webm or gif as a format. The custom FFMPEG encoder includes only audio and video options, rather then images which i expect gif would fall under.

I'm sorry but I'm on vacation and could not remember if the "Stills"-encoder supported gif or not, and it does not. Are you looking to convert the entire clip to gif-animation or just some selected frames like keyframes, or f.ex. frame each second or maybe just the first frame?

The entire clip, if that's doable.

So would that be a gif animation (one clip) or all frames converted to a series of .gif files?

1 whole webm clip converted to a single .gif clip. Enjoy your vacation, no rush.

Can you try and make a "Custom FFmpeg"-preset where you set extension to "gif" and deselect the audio and video codec checkboxes?
