Send e-mail: the transport failed to connect to the server

Hi Steinar,

i don't want to annoy you but maybe you have a tip/clue.

When using the "Send e-mail"-processor I always get this error: "the transport failed to connect to the server".

Port 25, no SSL, I can ping the server from the FFAStrans-machine. I've tried several machines running FFAStrans.

Our email-server works, we are using it for various other purposes.

Does FFAStrans need any credentials for the email-server? As far as I can see in the help of E-mail configuration I need username and password actually only if required.

Best

FFAStrans does not require any credentials if your e-mail server don't. The error message is generic and not directly related to FFAStrans. Are you running a Win2003 e-mail server? It might be some SMTP realy configuration. This is actually not my field of expertise. Transcoding is ;-) Have you tried sending using a gmail account?

I use the email-node all the time and it's working perfectly with the servers I have tested on. But, I don't have the option to test all kinds of scenarios. Search the error message on the web and you will find lots links describing various scenarios.

Hi Steinar,

Thanks for response. Our email-server is running with Linux. I will talk to our IT-guy.

Hi steinar,

After long time i've checked again. Problem is related to our virus-scanner whick blocks email-transport.
Email-notificication now works and I love it, especially in combination with variables.
